VIII EDITION
In its eighth edition, Elche International Fantastic Film Festival – FANTAELX, which will take place from November 12 to 14, 2020, celebrates the fortieth anniversary of Friday the 13th. The illustrator Joan Martín Giménez has designed the poster, where the character of Jason, armed with his «mask» and machete, makes his way through the Elche landscape. In commemoration, there will be the screening of various horror short films, in addition to the third edition of the International Congress of Fantastic Genre, Audiovisuals and New Technologies, whose thematic line will be crime and fantastic.
The Congress will take place on November 12 and 13 at the Ciutat d’Elx Congress Center (in person format), and on the festival’s own website (online format). Thus, the presentations on Thursday 12 will be made online through the festival website; while the presentations on Friday 13 will be carried out in person in the Auditorium of the Congress Center, complying with the strict security, distancing and hygiene measures, being free access, and through seat reservation from the month of November. And during the afternoon of Saturday, November 14, it will be the turn of the short film screenings in the same venue, with free access and through seat reservation.
The eighth edition of the festival is organized by the Black Unicorn Association, the Art Department of the UMH, and the Massiva Research Group, and has the support of the Department of Culture of the Elche City Council, together with organizations such as Visit Elche, “Ciutat d’Elx” Congress Center, Miguel Hernández University of Elche, the Vice-Rector’s Office for Culture and University Extension, Odeón Cinemas, l’Aljub Shopping Center, or the movie merchandising store Cinema Paradiso. As an added value in this edition, the Congress has been subsidized by the Department of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society, for the Organization and Dissemination of International Scientific, Technological, Humanistic or Artistic Congresses, Conferences and Meetings.

The objective of the congress is the diffusion of research studies within the different thematic lines of the Fantastic Genre, covering all its possible variants and platforms: cinema, television, theater, literature, comics, videogames, virtual reality, etc., whose main thematic line in this new edition is crime and fantastic.
