SUSTAINABILITY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

In contribution to the ELX 2030 project to turn the town of Elche into a sustainable, eco-innovative, creative and digital municipality, Elche International Fantastic Film Festival – FANTAELX favours such effects, through the following sustainability actions:

– Installation of reusable recycling bins located at the entry/exit points.
– Digitalisation of all festival content, reducing the amount of printed material on paper.
– Creation of digital images screened at the beginning and end of each session, with recommendations on sustainability (transport, carbon footprint reduction, etc.) aimed at the audience.
– Training courses on sustainability received by the festival organisers.
– Hiring of ecological courier services.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), also known as 2030 Agenda, are a set of global goals with the aim of creating a more sustainable future. The SDG were established in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and the aim is to achieve them by 2030.

From the Elche International Fantastic Film Festival – FANTAELX we contribute through the following SDG:

– SDG 4: Quality Education. One of the main pillars of the festival is the International Congress of Fantastic Genre, Audiovisuals and New Technologies, aimed at research, dissemination and quality learning thanks to the participation of international researchers. More information in this section.

– SDG 5: Gender equality. The festival carries out a real policy of parity within its organisation, committees and participants.

– SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production. The sustainability actions outlined above are an example of the implementation of this goal.

– SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals. The festival has created synergies with other national and international film festivals, such as the Festival de Cortometrajes de Terror y Fantástico 1000 Gritos de Buenos Aires (Argentina), the festival Navidades Sangrientas – Weekend Horror Awards, the Sant Joan d’Alacant Film Festival, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival or the Cortesina Fest. In the same way, it has also created alliances with other types of entities to carry out common cultural objectives, such as the L’Aljub shopping centre, the Paleontological Museum of Elche (MUPE) or the MUFANT – Museo lab del Fantastico e della Fantascienza di Torino (Italy).
